Holst Endorsed by River Cities Reader

“Every blue moon the stars align to produce a candidate for public office who is the real deal. Taxpayers are fortunate enough to have just such a candidate for the Scott County Board of Supervisors in Diane Holst.”

“….the current Board of Supervisors protects the needs of the bureaucracy more often than the needs of residents. This is seen with such cavalier mid-year budget increases over $700,000. There was no discussion, just perfunctory approval as usual. The Scott County budget has doubled over the past 14 …

ALERT: Spot Zoning on Unincorporated Land Proposed to P&Z

The Orascom fertilizer plant’s efforts to quickly rally a zoning variance that individual farmers and land owners have been denied, focused unusual pressure on the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2013.   After the controversial project went to Lee County, the idea of such a “mega-site” continues to have legs with boosters both internal and external of county government.

July 16, 2013 – These Planning and Zoning Meeting Minutes contain much insight into what staff, supervisors and P&Z commissioners agree and disagree on. The meeting included exiting …

Additional documentation is available that proves there was no RFP and no bids for the purchase.

Holst Addresses Supervisors & Sustainability Plan

“The sustainability plan is a public relations tool used to sell sustainable development to the community. People are told the plan was developed from the ground up, from citizen participation. The fact is, according to the report, you have had 25 people participate in this exercise, in a population of 166,000 people. That’s zero point one five percent participation.

It’s unlikely that the board, or even those that participated in the development of the sustainability plan, were aware of what they were led to consider, was …
